I want to scream.
I want to scream at you and tell you to stop hating
To stop killing, to stop;
Just stop.
But to scream fills my voice with rage,
Which is what you do, rage.
So screaming makes me no better than you.
No better than the mob of you who break church windows
With bombs and stones and kill children in cellars,
Who march with sneers and curdling laughter.
Who celebrate the grinding end of all this.
I want to scream, but you scream louder, with more voices,
dressed to kill, to celebrate pain and division,
to revel in the fall, the end, the darkness,
with some unfiltered roar.
What’s left to me is my hand in yours.
Fingers wrapped.
Your body held tight.
Something to fill the hollow,
Like a whisper in your ear.
Then two.
Soft words shared,
Like a kiss on your soft neck.
Sighs pulled across distance
Until there is just you.
